Health Benefits

Hazelnuts have many beneficial nutritional and health qualities including:

  • They are rich in mono unsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids. These are ‘good’ fatty acids and help reduce the risk of coronary heart disease.
  • They are moderately high in protein (19%). Protein is essential for muscle growth and general skin and tissue health.
  • And they have a higher fibre content that most other nuts. Fibre is useful for maintaining the health of the digestive tract
  • They contain large amounts of calcium and are rich in manganese (important in osteoporosis) and are a beneficial source of useful amounts of magnesium (useful for cramps) and potassium
  • Hazelnuts are an excellent source of Vitamins E and B6, B1 and B12.
  • They are gluten free and virtually salt free
  • Hazelnut oil can be used as a highly penetrative base carrier oil when applied to the skin
